Animal Emergency & Referral Associates (AERA)
Internal Medicine
A veterinary internist is a doctor who specializes in chronic or acute diseases and conditions that affect major internal organs. Commonly seen conditions include IMHA, Cushing’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes mellitus, pancreatitis, and more. If your pet has been referred to AERA for internal medicine specialty care or advanced diagnostics by your family veterinarian, they will be seen by a board-certified specialist in our internal medicine department.
Our veterinarians utilize state-of-the-art equipment to perform ultrasound examinations, endoscopies, bronchoscopies and cystoscopies, laparoscopic biopsies, bone marrow biopsies, and much more. They are also able to collaborate with other departments within our hospital, offering your pet the resources of a multispecialty healthcare team.
